COMMUNITY OUTREACH  PROGRAMME

Service Offered

Community centre for Asian women. Advice on housing, welfare rights, homelessness, immigration, education and training, health, benefits. ESOL, numeracy  classes, crafts group. Sure Start, creche for 10+. Asian women's health project providing health services from an Asian woman Nurse at a community centres.

Target Group

Asian women and children.

Construction Training Courses:

Service Offered: Plumbing training

For all ages without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political religious or other opinion.

Target Groups:

unemployed and droped out students.

Connexions Careers Management Futures - Wolverhampton

Service Offered

Information and guidance on careers, employment and training opportunities for young people aged 13-19.

Target Group

Young people aged 13-19.

Asian Health Agency - Elders Access Project

Service Offered

Assists Asian elders to access services, such as day care, community, religious and social activities. Provides and co-ordinates transport to enable Asian elders to attend activities and services of their choice. Advice, information and advocacy services to assist elders in accessing services. Service provided seven days a week 10am - 6pm.

Target Group

Asian elders.

Advocacy and Interpreting Services Unit

Service Offered

Advocacy and interpreting services for non-English speaking patients using primary community and acute health care services in the City of Wolverhampton.

Target Group

Non-English speaking patients using health care services.

Service Offered

Centre for North Asian women and children. Advice and information on welfare rights, benefits, housing, harassment and physical/sexual abuse. Signposting to other services, range of group activities, classes and courses designed to develop confidence and independence. Some translation and interpreting. Outings and cultural events. Playscheme for 10+ yr olds, youth project and homework club.

Target Group

North Asian women of all religious/cultural backgrounds.

Languages

English, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

Area Served

City of Wolverhampton and surrounding areas.
